Adolphe Horn and his unique recipe

Born in Elsenborn in east Belgium, Adolphe Horn founded ORTIS in 1958 in order to specialise in the production and sale of royal jelly. One day, he read a document about the discovery Father Jartoux had made. Fascinated by the possible complementary effects of ginseng and royal jelly, he decided to set off to find the 1711 letter. He travelled to Paris and studied publications about ginseng in numerous libraries in the capital.
At the end of his research he concluded that, like the population of Manchuria and Father Jartoux, he would use the whole root, because this was the only way of ensuring that the final product would retain all of the plant’s active principles. On his return to Elsenborn, he started to experiment by grinding the root and dissolving it in white wine to preserve it. Furthermore, this process also enabled him to guarantee that no part of the ginseng root (and therefore none of its effects) would be lost. He added royal jelly to the blend obtained to enhance the effects of the ginseng. Subsequent research has demonstrated that this was a brilliant idea, because royal jelly can enhance the adaptogenic function of ginseng.
Developed fifty years ago by the founder of ORTIS, this blend is still used today to make ORTIS Ginseng Imperial Dynasty.
