The effects of ginseng were long believed to derive from the ginsenosides alone. We now know that the root contains many other active principles (vitamins, trace elements, minerals, etc.) which are vital for optimal development of the root’s properties. That’s why it is essential to use the whole root, i.e. the main root AND all of the small secondary roots and radicles. Adolphe Horn, who devised the ORTIS preparation, had already included all of these parts in his recipe. He knew that the whole root needed to be used for precisely these reasons. Today, ORTIS still uses its founder’s original recipe.
